Collection: Self Defense / Paintball / Training

Self-Defence, Paintball & Training Equipment in Canada

Less-lethal launchers give Canadian buyers a licence-free way to keep a home-defence option ready, run structured training drills, and play recreational paintball on the same platform. This collection covers the systems Canadians actually use — the Umarex T4E line and the P2P HDP and Secure series — across three calibres, .43, .50, and .68 cal, along with the ammunition, magazines, CO2, and deterrent sprays that keep them running. Shipping from Peterborough, Ontario to customers across Canada.

Products in this collection are generally licence-free in Canada, but ownership and lawful use are two separate questions, and application varies by province and by circumstance. This page is for informational purposes rather than legal advice; confirm current regulations before purchase if you have specific concerns. For a plain-language overview, see our Canadian legal guide to non-lethal home defence airguns.

Shop Less-Lethal Platforms by Calibre

• .43 cal — the most compact and economical entry point, and the cheapest to feed at volume. Best suited to indoor drills and high-repetition handling practice where round count matters more than impact.
• .50 cal — the balanced middle ground. The T4E TR50 Gen 2 revolver runs 380 FPS from a 6-shot rotary magazine on a single 12g CO2 cartridge seated in the grip, and ships with five magazines so reloads are pre-loaded.
• .68 cal — maximum impact and the widest ammunition choice. The P2P Secure 68P Impact Defense Kit reaches 350 FPS and 14 FPE with inert powder rounds, with an effective range of 80 ft (25 m) from a 6-round drop-free magazine.

Shop by Use Case

• Home defence — the P2P Secure 68P Impact Defense Kit at $279.99 arrives as a complete package: launcher, three 12g CO2 cartridges, and a mixed set of powder, rubber, and glass breaker rounds in a zippered case. Its Response Ready Trigger pierces the cartridge, releases the safety, and fires in one pull.
• Structured training — the T4E TR50 Gen 2 revolver at $159.99 keeps the mechanics simple under stress, with dual Picatinny rails for a red dot or light. Fewer steps between picking it up and firing it.
• Recreational paintball — the same .43, .50, and .68 platforms accept paintballs, so a defence launcher doubles as a marker. A 100-count of .68 paintballs runs $13.99 against defence-rated rounds at several times that per shot.
• Outdoor and trail — bear and animal deterrent aerosols in the defence aerosols range cover the situations a launcher is not the right tool for.

Pair Your Launcher With the Right Rounds

Platform choice and ammunition choice are inseparable, and calibre compatibility is fixed — only buy rounds rated for your specific launcher. Rubber balls are the everyday training and deterrence round, powder balls break on impact to mark a target, glass breaker rounds use a hard polymer for maximum impact, and aluminum projectiles sit at the top of the kinetic-energy scale for .50 and .68. Most owners keep cheap rubber or paintball rounds for the range and a harder round loaded for defence. Browse the full self-defence ammo range, keep spare magazines pre-loaded so a reload is never a loading job, and stock CO2 cartridges and cylinders so a session never ends early. If you are still choosing a format, compare the defence pistols against the higher-capacity defensive carbines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a firearms licence for a T4E or P2P launcher in Canada?

Most T4E and P2P less-lethal launchers are not classified as firearms under Canadian federal law and are generally available without a licence. The legality of use in a specific situation, including self-defence, is a separate question governed by the Criminal Code and the circumstances of the incident. This page is informational, not legal advice.

What is the difference between .43, .50, and .68 calibre?

Calibre determines which ammunition your launcher accepts, and the three sizes are not interchangeable. Larger calibres deliver more energy on impact and support a wider range of round types, while .43 is the most compact and economical for high-volume practice. Our T4E calibre guide for Canada breaks it down in detail.

Can I use the same launcher for paintball and home defence?

Yes, on most T4E and P2P platforms. You load a different round for each job while the barrel, pressure system, and trigger group stay the same. Keep the two ammunition types physically separated and labelled so you always know what is currently loaded.

How much ammunition and CO2 should I keep on hand?

A practical stock is roughly 40 to 60 defence-rated rounds, rotated yearly, backed by a few hundred cheaper training rounds you actually shoot. Keep CO2 in multipacks as a parallel consumable, and expect fewer shots per cartridge in cold weather.

Which launcher suits a smaller shooter?

Fit matters more than power. A revolver format or a compact .50 pistol has a slimmer grip and a shorter trigger reach than a full-size .68 platform, and a launcher you can operate smoothly under stress beats a stronger one that feels awkward. Our women's guide to home defence launchers covers grip sizing, recoil, and storage.
